From the artist:
Creativity has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. And not in the “I loved to color as a kid” kind of way. In the “I didn’t have furniture in middle school, so I made my own using cardboard boxes and paint” kind of way. To me, creativity has never been limited to traditional artistic skills. It’s a way of thinking and moving through the world with imagination and resourcefulness. It’s a quality I’ve always possessed, though for most of my life I never thought much of it.
Growing up, I never considered being an artist as a profession, and I certainly didn’t imagine myself as a business owner. I assumed I’d become a teacher or pursue a career in marketing, which has always been my second passion. Art felt like something you did on the side, not as a career. I didn’t realize I had real artistic talent until 2019–2020, during my junior year of high school. In an art class, I created my first painting, and both my art teacher and my family immediately took notice. That moment marked a shift for me. I began creating more pieces but only for myself, purely for enjoyment. Even then, I still didn’t see art as something I could realistically pursue full-time. I believed it would always remain something I did on the side, just for me.
When I eventually learned that being an artist could be a real career, I began pursuing it loosely, without any clear direction. For some time, I struggled to fully immerse myself in the art world because I didn’t feel like a “good enough” artist. I believed legitimacy required following a very specific path: attending art school, becoming a fine artist, sticking to one medium, and developing one recognizable style. Those unspoken rules (the ones I thought I had to obey) kept me from fully embracing a passion that had already found me.
As the years passed, that internal pull toward creating only grew stronger. In 2025, I made the decision to take my dream of becoming an artist seriously. I officially launched my art business, Amber Peeks Art, and committed to fully owning my identity as a multi-disciplinary artist. My creativity does not have limits and I won't place any on it. I paint, design, create content, and anything else my heart desires. I stopped letting the fear of how I would be perceived by others keep me from using my gifts and walking in my purpose.
I’m endlessly grateful to everyone who has chosen to follow my journey and support me as an artist. Pursuing an unconventional path, especially in the art industry, isn’t always easy. But every ounce of support keeps this dream alive. Thank you for being here.
